So, what do you make of this miracle that Jesus does? As I took a look at all the miraces recorded, it seems that Jesus (just as in the OT) confronts the gods of the time in his miracles, systematically undoing the confidence in the gods and showing Himself more real, more powerful, more personal.

Turning water into wine was the first recorded miracle. This was an act that increased the belief of the disciples. This first act is very rooted in the values of the time and the culture. There is more to this than what we read.

This action seems to me to be an act of amazing compassion, love, fun…one of those things a parent does for a child who at the moment isn’t expecting the outrageous act of love. When did Jesus “turn water into wine” for you?  When did he last show you who He is and maybe in the proces undo some value you held close? When were you really glad that Jesus was there with you?
