There is much to be said in the Bible about submission. The Apostle Paul tells us to submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Jesus submitted to the Father’s will when He gave His life for us. We are also told to submit to those in authority.
But in the this passage we are reminded that there are times when submission is impossible. It is impossible for the Christ follower when we are asked to give up our allegiance to Christ to anyone else. It is impossible for us to be silent about a message that is the reason for our hope.
When is the last time you had to make a decision–will it be the will of man or the will of God? Will I deny who I follow for an easier way? I’m not talking about being obnoxious. I’m simply talking about being someone who follows Jesus as Lord.

i hear so many people who fear the loss of their jobs for speaking openly of christ. we have freedom of speech – and i don’t believe you can be fired for speaking openly of your faith. possibly for being obnoxious about it – or pressuring others… and i can honestly say that whenever the occasion has arisen and i kept silent when i sensed i should speak – it was fear of being outcast or labeled by my peers, not the fear of losing my job.
we must be respectful of those around us, loving, merciful and sensible – yes. sometimes that means silence…sometimes that means sharing our story…i have great experiences with my friends as we share our various faith journeys – as we work side by side in the work place.
i’m glad that submission is a choice…not a blanket mandate. 🙂 (for those of you who know me, that will not be a surprise – submission is a discipline for me!)
