Sunday School songs are full of sheep song, songs that declare that we have a Shepherd who cares for us, leads us – and we will follow. Simply…follow, right?
In my work place there is an ongoing conversation involving what is true, what we can and cannot know…and quantum physics.  A bit – no, way over my head but it’s got me thinking…. Seeing is believing or is it believing is seeing? Last week’s readings had me dealing with what it is to have the ability to see what God was doing…to have eyes to see and believe the truth about Him…if there be any scales, let them fall off.

Reading on this week, I’m seeing that we are not left on our own to figure it all out. Sometimes it seems that there are no signs along the way…unless we are paying attention that is.

We do have a guide. It seems that God wants to lead us. He uses people – He appoints leaders and equips them to speak into our lives. Moses asked that God to give the people a leader to follow and He appointed Joshua, “so the community of the Lord will not be like sheep without a shepherd.” There were people in Joppa who needed to hear the truth, and Peter was sent. He doesn’t send Peter and leave it to him to get the attention of the people. He is extreme when it is called for.

God wants to lead. He wants to be found. He wants to show us a beautiful reality.

This promise, this revelation of God’s intention toward us is found in Revelation: “For the Lamb on the throne will be their Shepherd. He will lead them to springs of life-giving water. And God will wipe every tear from their eyes.”

“True to your word,
you let me catch my breath
and send me in the right direction…

…Your beauty and love chase after me
every day of my life. “

I love this. This Shepherd, I want to follow closely. I am watching closely this week for how He is leading me, who He is speaking through, for what He is showing me.
